As someone who’s father works for via rail, and thus grew up with a pass to ride and did so as often as possible (usually Winnipeg to Toronto), these delays are basically normal, particularly for winter. The app is actually pretty great, check your departure times frequently before hand, or call the station. Don’t plan anything within a 12 hours of the time frame of when you’re supposed to arrive. Train trips in Canada are about the journey, not the destination. The view is amazing, the food is great, and I get the bet sleep of my life (spring for a bed if you can).
